the heart of El Cortecito/Los Corales area of Bavaro. There is no car
needed. You are a stroll away from everything.
… You do not have far to walk for dining and stores!
Here in Playa Turquesa we have our own shopping Plaza up in our commercial area. You also have a grocery store that sells just about everything you need, including bags of ice. Open 8 am – 10 p.m
… You also have a great choice of restaurants!
Citrus
This is also the restaurant that services us down on the beach between 12 midday and 4 p.m., should you wish to order in some lunch. Absolutely fantastic restaurant, prices are great, service too, remember to leave room for their amazing chocolate brownies!
For those who like Brazilian never ending meats you have Garota:

Or perhaps you like Cuban cuisine. Don Pio does a lunchtime special of quarter roast chicken, served with salad, rice and beans for just over $5 tax included.
Right on your doorstep, you have the little Shopping Plaza of El Dorado. Here you will find:
The French Bakery :
With seating inside and out, offering a variety of pastries, cakes,
filled sandwiches and croissants, and a variety of freshly baked
breads. A great place to go for a morning coffee or snack, or just to
buy your favorite treats for the condo. They also have free wifi.
Ciccolella
Grocery Store which has all the basics you need. Although can be a
little expensive. So we suggest a trip to POLA in the San Juan Center,
to shop at local prices, in a large grocery store which is similar to
your home country
Danny’s Sports Bar
With tables inside and out, servng snacks, meals, this is the place to
go if you fancy shooting some pool. It also comes to life on Wednesday
evenings, with a vibrant group of locals/expats/tourists who fancy
themsleves as Karaoke Kings/Queens. Be warned – it will be a late one!
El Dorado Shopping Plaza also boasts Pharmacy, Hairdressers, and other
small stores and restaurants.
We are eagerly awaiting at this time, an authentic Indian Restaurant to open towards the back at the side of Dannys
Just up on the right, adjacent to the road out of town, you will find
another little row of stores. Here you can find a laundrymat, and
a good exchange office, to the end of the row you will find Palma Rosa Spa. Prices are good, check for their specials.
On the corner of El Dorado Shopping Plaza, the road that takes you
down Los Corales, you will find “Garrys Sports Bar“. Used to be Le Petite Jardin.
Take the road down past “Garrys Sports Bar”, and you will come to a
curve, where you will find a small convenience store, and a small café, Nam Nam,
where you can get filled tortilla wraps, keep on walking and you will
arrive at the Plazuela, with a variety of little stores, a
hairdressers, and D’Angelos Pizzeria. D’Angelos has seating downstairs
outside as you walk into the Plazuela. But upstairs is more
comfortable under the thatched roof with the ocean breeze. Pizzas and
Pastas come highly recommended. Have a ‘Stria’ with your pasta, a salty, rosemary infused pizza dough
Walk a little further, and you will see a Pool Area to the right
through some gardens. Here you will find BALICANA. A mixture of
Asian/Indonesian. The food here is amazing! The setting is tranquil
and it opens daytime for special offer lunch bowls for approx. 350 pesos including a soft drink or fresh juice
Personal favorites are their starter sampler to share, which is HUGE, with various dipping sauces, and tempura prawns,tempura vegetables and spring rolls, and for main, sweet chilli pork, finished off with cinnamon cheesecake spring roll

Tronco Beach
A perfect little place right around the corner from Balicana, walking down in the direction of the beach.
This is a tranquil little restaurant just before you reach the beach. Ambience is perfect for that romantic dinner, soft lighting, table linens, flowers, fresh fish and seafood, and an extensive wine list. Owned by a Spanish and Russian couple, service is great, a little pricey, but well worth the visit
Walking along the beach, you will come to a few
other dining options. Firstly you will come to the Hurricane Cafe.
Nice setting, but the food is expensive here.
Just past this you come to the main Corales dining options. Firstly
the Bamboo Bar, with tables set in the sand, it offers an extensive
menu, prices are not too bad here. But is more suited for lunch
Adjacent you will find SOLES. Food here is good and fresh, but prices
are a little higher. But the setting is wonderful, and so are the mojitos 🙂
If you fancy strolling down in the other direction away from Turquesa
towards El Cortecito little fishermans village. The first dining
options you will come to is
Omnos
Set opening out on to the beach, this place attracts the younger crowd, with live DJ most weekends
Walk into the main street of El Cortecito, and you will first encounter there
Capitan Cook
Fresh Seafood. Personally I find this to be a little overpriced and
far too catered to the tourist. However, Seafood is good, but if you
dont like seafood and wish steak, they have limited availability
The Beach Club
Formerly known as Palma Sands. It has recently been taken over by new
management, and turned into a beachclub/bar. Extensive menu, and
reasonably priced. To me this is the most perfect place to go relax on
an evening and have a drink. The view onto the beach here is what the
Caribbean dream is all about. Perfection!
Moon
A new restaurant recently opened beachfront, juts past The Beach Club.
Prices here are reasonable.
For those who want to venture further afield. Then jump on the little
local bus (Sitrabapu).
This little bus will take you anywhere you want to go (Palma Real
Shopping Center/San Juan Shopping Center/Plaza Bavaro) All at a fixed
price of approximately 30 pesos per person. Its a great little
service, and quite the little dominican adventure.
Palma Real Shopping
Upscale Shopping Mall, and home to brand name restaurants like Tony
Romas, and The Hard Rock Cafe Punta Cana. Shortly Plaza Lama Grocery
Store will be opening beside the Cinema at the far corner of the Mall.
There is also a NightClub/Discoteca.
San Juan
Where the locals shop. Pola Supermarket is large, well priced and has
everything you could possibly need. There are a selection of
bars/restaurants, a Hagens Daz store, Chef Pepper and a Farmax
Pharmacy. Chef Pepper also sells prime cuts of imported meats daily
from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m.
Plaza Bavaro
Up the other end of the Hotel strip, mainly Souvenir Bazars. If you
get off the little local bus on the junction, and cross over, you will
find NON SOLO PIZZA. Stoned Baked Pizza at its best. Great Lunch
specials. Worth a trip along on a cloudy day.
